I remember when my youngest sister was born.it was on thursday in 2003.i had returned from school that sunny afternoon to meet my mother sitting on the floor in the sitting room.she looked exhausted and her face was fatigued.she was pregnant and that alarmed me.i was only nine years old.i had come early because my school was just about three buildings away from the house.mummy,what is the matter? I asked,rushing over to her.My water broke,she said.I was confused.her water broke?what did she mean?Does water break?and which water?I explained my confusion to her.Get my phone,she said.she seemed to be writhing in pain.I got up,ready to run to fetch the phone. where is the phone?I asked. Just get it.I dont know where it is,she said.i was confused.i ran to her room and ransacked the place.i did not find it.i ran to the kitchen,i did not find it.i was hoping she would get a call and the phone would ring but she did not.i returned to tell her that i could not find it.
